The Media Violence Awareness website.

Violence and Violent Death have become a routine part of our everyday entertainment.

There is little public media training and people are not aware of the negative effects of frequent viewing of violence, especially violent death, as entertainment.

No Killing for Fun Day

A campaign has been developed which aims to raise public awareness of this issue.

The main elements of the campaign are:

  1. That the effects of violence as entertainment are highlighted on one high profile day each year.

  2. That 21st September, United Nations World Peace Day, also be the day when our television entertainment is free of violent death.

  3. Television stations adopt World Peace Day as the yearly day of programming that is free of violent death as entertainment.

  4. Schools and colleges examine the effects of violence as entertainment in civics, social studies, advertising and media awareness classes on that day ...or during that week.

  5. All of us who have televisions pause to consider the meaning of World Peace Day. How are we affected by so many killings as entertainment? How does seeing death as entertainment so often affect our relationship with the world? Our mental health? Our happiness?
